Welcome Again.
We welcome you warmly to this section of our website. Whether you’re just having a look, or are searching for something, we are delighted to have you with us.
Our core belief is that the Scriptures, as they were written in their original languages, and especially the “Thus says Yahweh,” were Yahweh’s proceeding and infallible Word; the supreme authority over the Congregation’s beliefs and living” (2 Timothy 3:16). We believe Yahweh is an ever-revealing Elohim (God). We are open to receiving new revelations as Yahweh sees fit, willing to follow Him wherever He leads. Our hearts are open to change if Yahweh so reveals through the Scriptures. It is not about our truth; it is about His truth.
We believe that the spirit of the Bereans is the best spirit; examining the Scriptures daily to see if what is said is true (Acts 17:11).
Welcome and Yahweh bless you.
Our Purpose
The Congregation of Yahweh’s purpose is to establish and develop growing and healthy congregations throughout Kenya and other parts of Africa. This is nothing less than recapturing the power and lifestyle of the Acts 2 congregation.
This means:
- introducing lost people to a living and vital relationship with Yahshua the Saviour, connecting them with a fellowship group where they can be nurtured and build life-changing relationships, and welcoming them as members of the fellowship.
- enabling believers to grow in their knowledge of Yahweh in order to become more like Him as they take up, and advance in, the disciplines of discipleship. Here they experience real and ongoing transformation as Yahshua is formed in them (Galatians 4:19).
- encouraging disciples to discover their Yahweh-given ministry gifts and to use them in serving the Church.
- empowering ministers to reach out to the world with the Good News of Yahshua and to discover their mission.
In establishing ‘growing and healthy congregations’ we expect to find people who are enthusiastic about their faith, charged up about their church, devoted to fellowship – sharing their lives with others, excited about their gifts, and passionate about their service. We believe a healthy congregation grows and reproduces itself; therefore we promote personal growth and discipleship.
Over several decades the Congregation has been restored to some significant biblical truths which run counter to some Christian traditions. For example:
- As a Congregation we use God’s personal name, Yahweh, and His Son’s original name, Yahshua.
- The celebration of Christmas and Easter (which have pagan roots and no biblical authority) are not observed. Instead the Congregation celebrates the seventh day Sabbath and the biblical feast days.
Our Belief
Our Life-Style Statement
What we practise;
Beliefs do not amount to much unless they are translated into our lives and become part of our everyday living ― for all to see. Our practices are essentials for growth toward becoming Yahshua-like. Put another way, they help in getting us into the workroom of the Holy Spirit, where the Spirit is able to transform us.
Based on what the Bible teaches, we feel very strongly about the following practices; they are part of the believers’ lifestyle.
Since Yahweh’s Word is the only completely reliable and truthful authority, we accept the Bible as our Manual for living. Our first question when faced with a decision is “What does the Bible say?” We practice daily Bible reading and regular Bible study. The Bible is the basis for all we believe.
“You are . . . the king’s priests . . . Yahweh’s own people, chosen to proclaim the wonderful acts of Yahweh,” (1 Pet. 2:9 GN).
The Bible teaches that every believer is called to “full time” service in Yahweh’s kingdom regardless of his or her vocation. We practice the truth that every believer is a minister by encouraging every member to find a place of service and ministry in the Body of the Messiah. Everyone has his/her part to play in the growth of the Body.
We practice tithing as Yahweh commands, for the support of Messiah’s Body and its work in the world. A tithe means 1/10th of all you earn. We recognize that giving 10% of our income to Yahweh is a biblical standard for giving. It is regarded as the starting point of our giving, not the limit. Our giving touches many more areas than finances; for example our time and energies.
We practice baptism by total immersion in water – the way Yahshua was baptized, and according to scriptural principles. We believe baptism to be part of the “new birth” experience.
The Bible teaches that all believers are chosen and called to live lives that demonstrate Yahweh’s character to the world. We’re commanded to be holy because our Father in heaven is holy.
We therefore, make every effort to obey Yahweh’s commands , and walk in sanctification. (Ref. Heb. 12:14; 1 Thess. 4:3).
We believe the only way possible for believers to live the life of Yahshua is by Yahweh’s power within us. So we seek to practice a daily dependence on Yahweh’s Spirit to enable us to do what is right (Phil. 2:13; Eph. 5:18).
It is the responsibility of every believer to share the Good News with those whom Yahweh brings us into contact with. We practice personal evangelism (sharing the message about Yahweh’s love and Yahshua sacrifice for sinners) and inviting friends to our services.
Yahshua called on his followers to remember him, his death and the establishment of a New Covenant in the breaking of bread. Believers are invited to participate in this ordinance.
“Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy” (Exod. 20:8).
As a congregation we observe the 7th day Sabbath which Yahweh instituted at creation for the purpose of rest, fellowship and worship, for the benefit of the human family. As one of the ten commandments, Yahweh commands us to remember and to keep this day holy (separate from other days). At CoY this is our practice: we gather on this day for corporate worship, fellowship and teaching(Luke 4:16; Acts 16:13; 17:2; 18:4).
We gather for worship and celebration at the Feast of Passover and Unleavened Bread, Pentecost or Shavuot and the Feast of Tabernacles. The latter is preceded by the Day of Trumpets and the Day of Atonement.
We eat only clean meats like goats, beef, chicken, tilapia and the like. We do not eat pork, camels, donkeys, dogs, crabs, eels or others like them. We are also encouraged to eat fresh vegetables, fruits and whole grain foods.
